Live in the nowhere that you came from

My dad worked for the US Postal Service for his entire adult life until he was able to retire.

As a little girl, I though it had to be one of the coolest jobs, delivering personal letters, greeting cards, and packages that would no doubt brighten the recipients' day.

"The mail must go through," was the motto of the Pony Express, in operation for only eighteen short months.* The USPS doesn't have an official motto but their unofficial one is similar to, albeit lengthier than the aforementioned one.

Neither snow nor rain
Nor heat nor gloom of night
Stays these couriers
From the swift completion
Of their appointed rounds
~Herodotus (Greek Historian, 5th century BCE), referring to the Persian Courier Service

I also remember hearing stories about mail that found their intended addressees despite overwhelming obstacles, including all kinds of weather, natural disasters, the requisite guard dog, and more. Of course this just amplified my father's heroic stature in my eyes.

My dad was a human model of the Cosmic Messenger (angel means messenger) that will never stop attempting to deliver greetings of good news to you!

I imagine opening a love letter from the Divine that says:

You are not lost

You never were

You are mine

And I love you

You haven't received yours yet? Never fear, the mail always gets through!

You are not lost. You never were. You are mine. And I love you.

*The Pony Express was never a part of the postal service, although it did operate a US Mail route during the last 4 months of its 18 month activity. The USPS predated the Pony Express by almost 100 years.
